Entrepreneurial managers and supervisory directors (‘new style’)

The Van der Velde Group acts as intermediary for (higher) management and executive positions with strategic and commercial responsibilities. These are positions where market orientation and pro-activity are particularly in demand. Our expertise and years of experience in this specialised field guarantee a valuable and personal partnership. Our approach focuses on long-term success, for both the client and the candidate. We focus on the candidate who not only possesses the right skills and background, but who above all, also has the right (genuine and committed) personality.

Extensive experience with family and small to medium-sized companies
The ‘entrepreneurial mentality’ of a director or supervisory director is appealing to companies such as these. Apart from the fact that we started as a family business, 90% of our assignments come from family businesses and small to medium-sized companies. We speak ‘their language’, know their ‘sensibilities’, and share their entrepreneurial ideas.

Executive positions recruitment

No Old Boys Network!

To do business starts with taking the initiative. We also apply this to recruitment. We do not believe in recruiting through an Old Boys Network – old networks offer no guarantees for the future. We believe the candidate must take the initiative. We address the labour market and trigger both active and latent jobseekers. These candidates must then take the initiative and apply for the vacancy. The right motivation for applying is just as important as the CV. But the (right) personality is even more important. This is why we want to discover the person behind the CV and focus on this in our selection process.

Executive positions selection and development

‘Employed entrepreneurs’

There is an increasing need for directors with a genuine personality and both feet on the ground. People who are willing to invest (time) in their career, and in the road that will take them there. Not through an Old Boys Network, but through a thorough selection process. Where the latter is concerned, the candidates have to get through an ‘obstacle course’ at Van der Velde. Tackling each obstacle makes it clear to us, and also to the candidate, whether this is an ideal match. In this way, the candidate undergoes a realisation process that will enable him to make the right choice. The thoroughness of the selection appeals to both our clients and our candidates.

Entrepreneurial and committed supervisory directors

The role and job of today’s supervisory directors is also changing in many ways. The supervisory director from the Old Boys Network in ‘the old days’, who sat on many supervisory boards, no longer fits into our fast-changing world. There is a need for supervisory directors with objective and modern insights, but who also keep a critical eye on both the executive level and each other on the supervisory board. In addition, they should also be more entrepreneurial and committed. In short, the competences of a supervisory director are more important than his (or her) grey hair. When acting as intermediary for supervisory directors, the Van der Velde Group applies a thorough selection process consisting of a number of steps to pinpoint those competences, including an assessment.

Timeline
Our recruitment and selection process is clear and defined. Both the client and candidates know the steps to be taken in advance. For this reason, the time between recruitment and the final selection is only about 8 weeks.
