Only when both client and candidate experience a positive ROI from the recruitment process, we have done our job well. Read his ROI story here.

What were your expectations beforehand?

I wasn’t actually looking for another job at all. I received a message via Linkedin and normally I click away immediately. Yet Yolanda Marijnen, senior consultant at Velde, touched a nerve. At my previous employer, a very large company, I had less impact on the final result than I wanted. Yolanda touched on that and for me it was right on the nail on the head. My expectation was that in a team of 30 colleagues I would be able to make a greater contribution. In terms of purchasing, I expected that I would be doing a lot of catalog work. But MJ-Tech is growing so fast that there are plenty of other things I can sink my teeth into. Because the company is growing so fast, I also expected a dynamic atmosphere.

What is the reality like?

I feel like I was accepted right where I am. In large part it was as I expected in terms of impact and atmosphere. Also, some things were different. For example, the previous system was no longer really suitable for controlling a production environment. Therefore, we are now implementing a more professional and stable system.

That’s also my role to further professionalize procurement and make sure the system can grow with the company. And that’s what I’m doing right now. To be honest, my assignment is bigger than I thought. It also works differently in a smaller company. I have to pick up all the ideas I have and work them out myself. So now I look more carefully at which optimization I tackle. At the same time, it is much more satisfying because you are involved from A to Z and therefore indeed have a greater share in the result. And with that, everything really does fall perfectly into place.

In my opinion, there are many more opportunities ahead.

What is your Return on Investment?

My immediate biggest gain is that I have gained more job satisfaction and also really feel part of a team again. In the beginning, I really did have a bit of a scoring urge. I find it interesting to dive into costs. So I did that right away. Meanwhile, I have saved over 150,000 euros in costs and I think there are many more opportunities up for grabs.

Where will I be a year from now? Am very curious about the continued growth of MJ-tech. That in turn has an impact on my role. Because of the strong growth, the purchasing tasks may no longer be handled by 1 person. That is a challenge for me. There are also still all kinds of opportunities in the area of defining and structuring specifications. So all kinds of things are still possible.
