What is your assignment?
Your goal is to sell technical systems ranging from € 200K up to € 5 million, through the network of agents and directly to end-users worldwide. You work closely with your colleagues within the different business units of Fontijne Grotnes. You are responsible for creating and executing strategical sales plans, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, expanding the network of agents and increasing their quality.
How do you achieve this?
This position is aimed at experienced sales managers who are used to selling large investments products. As an International Sales Manager you sell technical systems ranging from € 200K up to € 5 million, through the network of agents and directly to end-users worldwide. You work closely with your colleagues within the different business units of Fontijne Grotnes. You are responsible for creating and executing strategical sales plans, building and maintaining strong customer relationships, expanding the network of agents and increasing their quality. Your customers are in large industries (mainly automotive and oil & gas), each with different business cases. You are eager to understand the business of your customer, analyze their needs and can offer the most optimal technical solution for their production requirements. You are used to communicate with highly positioned persons, such as board members and owners. This makes you an excellent technical business partner. You are commercially driven and are able to strategize accordingly and set all actions in the direction needed to match the decision criteria of your customer. You are familiar with the players in the game and the roles that they play. You know how to build relationships with decision makers and influencers and are used to long sales cycles. You follow trends and developments in the market, examine the economic circumstances surrounding the business, such as industry trends and competition and you are able to respond to opportunities and threats. You are independent and influential, both out in the market, as well as within the organization. Apart from your rational and analytical skills, you dare to follow your instinct relying on the vast experience you have in these kind of complex sales processes. You set the strategy, you play the commercial game outside and you open the right doors to bring in the expertise of Fontijne Grotnes Group.

- Bachelor or Masters degree in engineering or commercial technology
- Experience with sales of capital goods and sales of client specific technical solutions
- Commercially driven, experience with worldwide pioneering and acquisition
- Focus on developing new markets
- Experience with long term sales processes, relationship- and account management
- Strong negotiator, excellent commercial skills and familiarity with sales financing
- Team player with good interpersonal and communication skills
- Perfect knowledge of the English language, other languages preferred
- Ability to work within an international work environment and amongst different cultures
- Willingness to travel frequently (> 50%)
What about the company?
The Fontijne Grotnes Group has been in business since 1909. Our founder, Andries Fontijne (1886-1952), is to be admired for his courage, craftsmanship, and perseverance.
Fontijne has its roots in the Dutch city of Schiedam. The company started out in 1909 as a servicing and repair company, mainly for ships’ engines and developed into an equipment manufacturer.
Our relationship with Grotnes Metalforming Systems
In 1954, Fontijne moved to its current location in Vlaardingen. In 1964, a license agreement with the American company Grotnes gave Fontijne access to the technology required to develop machinery for the wheel industry in Europe.
Like Fontijne, Grotnes Metalforming Systems began as a family-owned business. It was founded in 1898 in Chicago by Charles Grotnes. After the acquisition, both companies continued under a new name, Fontijne Grotnes.
Another era of expansion in the automotive industry
The year 2012 was another exiting year for FGG, as we acquired the Belgian company Ghyselinck NV with more than 55 years of experience in the development and manufacturing of automatic tire and wheel assembly lines. The activities continued under the new name Fontijne Ghyselinck BV. This acquisition meant an important expansion for FGG as a supplier of manufacturing equipment for the automotive industry.
In the following year we added canning & spinning techniques to our portfolio, by buying the Intellectual Property of Hess Industries for these products. This acquisition included Formitt Metal Labs, a division of Hess Industries. The newly acquired product portfolio is positioned as Fontijne Formitt, Inc.
