What were your expectations beforehand?
When the search for a new international account manager began, I had specific expectations. In our industry, long-term relationships are incredibly important. So we were really looking for someone who could work with that and who understood how the network of dealers and end customers are related. In addition, we preferred a candidate with fresh energy and a lot of enthusiasm. That also triggered me with Laurens, his motivation and energy. He has much more experience in the business and I know the market very well, so that’s a nice combination now.
What was the reality like?
The reality of working with Laurens exceeded my expectations on several fronts. His methodical and personal approach to connecting all the connections within our complex market was sound. Although this process took a little more time than he himself had hoped, it was completely within my expectations. He is a good partner for our industry and now largely knows our products and in the meantime focuses on new customers and expanding the market. In the process, he is taking over more and more tasks from me. This goes quite naturally.

What is the ROI (Return of Investment)?
On a personal level, this new partnership has brought me a lot. At first I found it difficult to let go of certain tasks and responsibilities, but soon this proved to be a relief. It has allowed me to pay more attention to strategic goals and supporting colleagues on larger projects. Something I previously had less time for.
This whole process has also certainly had a positive impact on the organization. Laurens’ arrival has brought a breath of fresh air. His ability to identify and respond to opportunities and dangers within his region ensured that our clients received the attention they deserved. His enthusiastic and positive attitude contributed positively to the atmosphere within the team.
